But this isn't one of those posts where I'm going to brag on marriage {I think it's A.W.E.S.O.M.E. awesome, awesome, Awesome, hey! That was a cheer where you spell out the first part and read the rest.} or how great {incredible.wonderful.inspiring} my husband is {even though I LOVE to do that!}. No. This is one of those posts where I'm talking to myself
and saying, "Marcie, get a hold of yourself!! Just because the food is green doesn't mean it's healthy or good for the environment!" or "Just because you got a paper-cut does NOT disable you from going on a run!" Funny what marriage does to you. No. This is a post about getting my booty back in shape {after I've been sitting on it for far too long} before it's too late!

I don't know what it is about when you get married and gain all this weight. People are so sweet and are like, "Awe, it's normal! Everyone gains newlywed weight!". They say it in a sense where the word 'newlywed' and 'weight' somehow seem to be best friends...and I'm thinking, "They shouldn't even be in a relationship!!!" Sheesh. But alas, my body, too, has fallen into the "newlywed-weight" gain cycle....and I'm determined to stop it!
When I lived at home, staying active and in shape was not even a question! I mean really, when you live in a place like Utah, you really have no excuse not to want to get out and do something! I really believe that the mountains knew my name and would literally call me to come 'hang-out'. Trail running was one of my favorite things to do! And talk about a killer workout! Phew! My family has always been pretty active and healthy so sitting on your butt was much harder when everyone around you is out doing something. Not to mention that my mom is an amazing cook! And when I say amazing, I really do mean it in all senses of the word. But part of the amazing-ness of her cooking is that she would always try to make the meals balanced. A lot easier said than done, if you ask me.
Married life is a whole other world! For one, I'm the one cooking {and if I don't feel like cooking, we usually end up eating out} and when we both get home at night, the last thing I feel like doing is going out again to work-out. Nope. I'll stay home and hang-out with my hot husband, thank you very much! Expanding on that, Oklahoma is severely lacking in the mountainous-range area. I have no one to call my name anymore!!!! No wonder I don't want to go outside!
Those are the three main excuses that I've been using lately to console myself when I get depressed about the weight gain. But the excuses stop there. No more excuses!!
Since moving to Tulsa, I feel like I've gotten out of that funk I was in of not working out. Last week {my first week here}, I went running three times {much better than the zero I was doing before} and have been cooking with fresh fruits and vegetables galore!!! I found a grocery store here {Reasors, how I love thee} that has been the Utah equivalent of Harmons. And for those of you who aren't familiar with either of those, let's just say it's a high-end, great produce, heavens-open-up-when-you-walk-in type of grocery store. I really think I heard angels singing the first time I entered! But back to the point at hand, I'm finally living back in a place where eating healthy is much easier and working out is more desirable. Yesterday Matt and I took the dogs walking/jogging on a darling little paved trail way that follows the Arkansas river. It was so beautiful with trees lining the whole area! I just fell in love! Matt's been wanting to get in on the back-in-action action, so I've been getting up with him in the morning to pack him {a little brown lunch bag} lunch, packed full of fresh fruits and a whole wheat sandwich! {I already know, you want to give me the "Wifey of the Week" award.} This section was where I just had to pat myself on the back to give me a little more motivation to keep at it! Haha
But this is the part where I'm open for input {talk to me, beautiful!}. If you've been on the receiving end of the newlywed-weight relationship, I would love to know what you've done {or are doing} to get back-in-action! If you have any lunch ideas, dinner recipes, fun ways to work out together suggestions.....I'm open to it all!! Or, maybe you feel inspired to get back-in-action and would like to join us, we could form our own little support group {awwwe...so cute!!}! Haha ok, I'll stop here. But seriously, suggestions are greatly appreciated {loved.wanted.desired.}....you get the point. :)
