Okie Pride

So this is my very favorite outfit right now!! Isn't it funny how the simplest pieces work their way in to the front of your closet? Anyway, I thought I needed to show a little Oklahoma pride. I talk a lot about how much I miss the mountains {I miss them terribly!!!}, but Oklahoma has some beauty of it's own to offer. Our engagement pictures are proof of that. So in keeping with the theme {which is, Oklahoma}, I just had to include some of the awesome greenery and colors that come along with an Oklahoma spring. These little wild flowers are just too much for my happy heart!

Also, I have to introduce you to a very special lady in my life....my car. Her name is Trixie and we have had many adventures together....both good and not-so-good! Even she is sporting some OK gear. This is really not her choice, though. The second my car's tires tip-toed their way into Oklahoma, husband thought it was necessary to replace my front license plate with an Oklahoma State one. This is no reflection on me or Trixie because both of our hearts bleed the crimson red that is the University of Utah {school pride...woot, woot!}. However, Trixie's driver {me} is too lazy to change the plate. So until the day comes that OSU and U of U have to play each other, we can have two teams. But believe me, if that day ever comes, it's on like donkey-kong and orange is flying out the window!
My sweet Matt is always such a dear to take blog pictures for me. As soon as he walks through the door from work on Saturdays, I'm there waiting for him, batting my eyes with camera in hand! Sometimes I have to use pixie dust to get him to come, but most days he graciously indulges me. This time though, he deserves an extra cookie for being my built-in photographer! See how green everything is in these pictures?? That's because it rains a lot here in the spring. There is another thing that comes with the rain....bugs.....loads of them!!! Especially mosquitos. In between camera clicks, we were waving our arms and smacking our legs! I even had to smack a tick off.....ewwwwwww!!!! After that, I was itching all over and insisted on a full body check when we got home. We also had a close call with poison ivy. Luckily, I have a keen eye and sixth sense that helps me prevent disasters like that from happening! I really should be part of The Avengers.

An Easter Outfit + DIY

Happy {Hoppy} Easter!!!!
The Mister and I {and our two sweet girls} had a fabulous weekend!
Not only did we do a Route 66 meet up with two of our favorite people, but Matt's family drove into town for a good ol' family holiday! Easter is such an exciting time of year and our church somehow incorporated a little number from "Grease" {yes, the movie!} into the message! Super creative and I'm pretty sure it's never {ever} been done before! That's probably why we love them! :)
And since one of the funnest part of Easter is getting a new outfit {which mine is not} I thought I would share mine {plus a little sumfin, sumfin at the end}!

Shirt: Similar, Belt: Here, Shoes: Here, Earrings: Similar, Lipstick: Mac Sheen Supreme - Happy Hibiscous

Now comes the DIY part!
Let's zoom in a little bit on the nails {more specifically, the ring finger}:

After a little experimenting today, I figured out how to get this fun, vintage, lacy look!
Ready?! Here's what you'll need:

Lace
Mod Podge
Paint brush
Nail polish {I used Essie Turqoise and Caicos}
  • Step One: Cut a piece of lace the size of your fingernail {or nails if you want to do more than one}. You want to make sure you use lace that doesn't have too much design so the color underneath shows thru!
  • Step Two: Paint fingernails with two coats of nail polish. When the second coat is almost, but not completely dry {I let mine dry for about two to three minutes}, press on the piece of lace that you have cut out.
  • Step Three: Use a paint brush to cover lace with a thin layer of mod podge. Let dry.

Ta-da!! You're left with these fun puppies:

Wha'd ya think?!

The Outfit Diaries

Much like the rest of the world, Oklahoma has been experiencing an unusually early and warm spring! It's the first day of April and already 90 degrees!! I'm definitely not complaining! Just hoping that our summer won't be as horribly hot as last year! This girl {or anyone for that matter} can't breath when it's 117 outside!!
This lovely spring has got me on a bright color craze! I'm usually a neutral girl, but I couldn't resist the summery colors in this top!

The Outfit Diaries: Sequins

So I'll admit, some days I'm super proud of how I can take things that I've had for years and create a totally new outfit out of them! As much as I {and any girl for that matter} would love to go out and buy everything that I pin on Pinterest, the complete lack of Benjamins {& Washingtons, for that matter} makes that probability highly unlikely!
So instead, I present to you {or myself}, the outfit diaries. To be used on days when I stand in my closet, staring at all my clothes and swear I have nothing to wear. This can be my reminder. And yet another creative outlet! Ka-ching!

Who says sequins are only for New Years?!
The thing I'm loving about the styles right now is the pairing of opposites. Leather and Lace. Stripes and Floral. Blazers and Tee-Shirts. And in my attempt, sequins and flannel!

So ladies {and probably not gentlemen}, today's outfit includes: Mossimo Flannel shirt {Target}, Mossimo Sequin Tank {Target}, Navy Boyfriend Blazer {Nordstrom}, IT Skinny Jeans {Nordstrom}, Steve Madden Nude Flats {DSW}
