A Very Merry {first} Christmas!

Well, our first Christmas has come and gone!! And let me tell you, it was extremely "merry" and special! I wasn't sure how I would feel about being away from family for the first time at Christmas, but honestly, it was one of the greatest memories Matt and I have had together yet! We slept in, spent the whole day in our pajamas {which my mom gave us!}, went to watch a movie {in our pajamas}, and had our first {traditional} holiday meal together! And, we both got the best Christmas present ever, each other! Awwwww....I know you all are gushing {or gagging}! Haha! And what would Christmas be without at least one fiasco?! Here's ours:
The menu for our dinner was as follows: Rosemary Crusted Pork Loin Roast, Cranberry Pecan Salad, Garlic Parmesan Rolls, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing and Yams. Sounds delicious, right?! Well, the fiasco lay inside the preparation of the latter {yams}. I had just finished peeling the sweet potatoes over the sink and began cutting them into small pieces when....the knife fell and cut off my baby toe!!!!!

Just kidding, just kidding, JUST KIDDING!! Haha! No, that didn't really happen, but for my fellow FRIENDS watchers, that joke will make more sense. But really, I did come close to cutting off my finger, so Matt took over and finished the job. I, in turn, moved over to the sink to clean up all the peelings. Here's where the disaster began. In the past {at least from what I remember}, I had always just turned on the disposal and pushed the peelings down the sink. Well, that didn't work so well this year. As I turned on the disposal, the sink began filling up with more and more water until it clicked that the disposal wasn't do its job. Matt came over {with the plunger} and began trying to pump air through the pipes. You can probably guess that that didn't work. The sweet potato peelings had clogged the sink pipes so bad that there was now leaking water underneath our sink. Matt, the handyman that he is, crawled under there, unscrewed and cleaned out the pipes {ewww!}, and made everything as good as new! Oh, and I also think it's important to mention that he never once made any sarcastic or rude comment about what a silly mistake I had made. I felt so bad for causing such a mess, but Matt's reaction made me so happy that God blessed me with such an amazing and gracious Christmas gift! How I love him! :)

So that was our very first Christmas as a Weiszbrod family! Extremely simple, in all senses of the word, but also extremely special and memorable! I wouldn't have traded it for a thousand department store Christmases!

On to the New Year!!
